Understanding Leather Products

Monday, March 31st, 2008

By Dwain Berlin Be aware that some leather products that have been around for a long time have new formulations. Therefore, chemically you are really looking at an entirely new leather product so while you think you may be achieving certain results from using the product last year; this year with the new formulations, the results achieved could be very different. Additionally, some leather products that have been in use for a long time were used for a different purpose than used today. Acrylic Copolymers Technology continues to offer new leather products such as acrylic copolymers that form a barrier net too fine for water molecules to pass through, but still porous enough to let water vapor in so the leather can still breath. These products do not have the slippery consistency of silicone sprays and do not have a negative effect on dyes. Most reputable leather merchants will also give you guidelines about how to care for your leather. Some even provide information about how to tell good leather from bad. Beeswax This natural leather product has been in use for a long time. Today, it is combined with ingredients that are more modern, which allows for better leather products to be made. One of the primary things that beeswax does is provides waterproofing although it also replaces natural oils. Blackball Blackball is a combination of beef tallow, beeswax, and soot that was used in the 18th century as a multi-purpose leather treatment, waterproofing, conditioning, and blackening in one fell swoop. Cleaning A simple wipe down or brushing with each use is a good idea for your leather items to help knock dirt off the surface and keep dust from working its way into the pores. For heavier soiled leather or for stains, cleaning should be done to keep the dirt and other debris from working its way into the leather and becoming a permanent, more than likely unattractive part of your item. The concept here is not washing per se. You are applying a detergent of sorts to the surface to emulsify and lift off soils and stains. Follow directions and determine first if the type of soil you are dealing with can be removed with spot cleaning. If needed, you can clean the entire area of the leather. Cleaning is always followed by conditioning. Just be sure to let the item dry thoroughly and naturally, and avoid using hair dryers unless specified to be okay by the manufacturer. In some cases, using a hair dryer on low heat is permissible but of course, you want to do this with extreme care. Conditioning You can follow the manufacturers recommendations, or just use common sense here. It is not difficult to tell if your leather is a bit tired. Regular conditioning will prevent deterioration such as cracking, which is important since once leather is cracked there is no going back. Cracked leather can only be fully repaired by replacing it. Although it can also be dyed so the leather appears uniform, the crack will remain. Conditioners run the gamut from oil to wax and both function as conditioners. Wax tends to make leather harder, which works for some items such as a bicycle seat while oil tends to make leather softer as what you would find with a leather sofa. Lanolin is another conditioner that is used. Obenaufs has leather products that are worth considering, especially if you are working with a specialized garment such as motorcycle and firefighters gear. Obenaufs also makes boot care kits that people rave about. Conditioners also function as basic waterproofing agents or sealants. This makes perfect sense since it is the same principal at work as in nature when the hide was still on the animal. If you are working on a leather item that is not going to be in direct contact with your skin, oil is great. Boots and the outside of a jacket are good candidates. It is always a good idea to give oil a day to soak in, regardless. If you are working with an item that does touch your skin, or fabric, for example a seat of some sort, give the product time to soak in and maybe a gentle cleaning before you sit on it or wear it. Mink Oil Mink has a fatty layer under their skin and have great pelts, as you know. This fatty layer is rendered and turned into Mink Oil, which is used to treat leather. Mink oil will leave furniture feeling greasy. Its primary purpose is as a water proofing agent for hiking boots. It is not recommended as a protective coating for upholstery leather. Some Mink leather products have filler ingredients so read the label if you prefer good quality. Neatsfoot Oil A neat is a beef animal, and this oil used to be made out of cow hooves, hence the name. It is heavy oil and is known to rot cotton stitching on leather items that have been sewn. Of all the raw oils, Neatsfoot oil seems to have the most colorful history. Neatsfoot oil was combined with all sorts of things to keep leather (especially footwear) serviceable. Saddle Soap Saddle soap is a great solution for saddles but can actually harm upholstery leather. Saddles are made from tough, vegetable tanned leather that can take the alkalinity of saddle soap. It’s intended to remove manure and related heavy soil from saddles. Upholstery grade leather has been processed differently, usually processed with chromium tanning which imparts supple characteristics. Saddle soap speeds up the demise of upholstery leather by breaking down the fibrous structure through chemical reaction. In the days when most leather items were the natural color of the hide, this was not an issue. In fact, the age finish that saddles take on was desirable. As dying and bleaching leather has become more popular, people are more concerned about the leather staying the original color purchased. Silicone Most guidelines for leather care also recommend staying away from anything that has silicone in it. Silicone leather products produce nice finishes. However, there is not anything in them to condition the leather. A newsletter for Jaguar enthusiasts warned that use of silicone on leather seats could make future repairs, especially re-coloring very difficult. If this is not an issue, silicone polymers sprays are non-greasy leather products that can be used on all leather, including suede to produce this type of finish. Some guidelines put petroleum products in the same category as silicone. For leather conservation as in a museum or collectible, petroleum components are used in leather products where animal-based products might not be as suitable because they could be a medium for bacteria or mold contamination. Stripping Another process to mention is stripping. Stripping takes all of the oil out of the leather, leaving you with the raw material. If you were going to dye leather, stripping would be necessary. Sometimes new leather has a finish layer that prevents absorption of a conditioner or sealant so you may want to strip this off before conditioning. Usually, as you use the item, this factory applied conditioning will wear off. Keep in mind that there are commercial leather strippers on the market that are petroleum-based solvents - Naphthalene is a perfect example. The downfall is that commercial strippers can be pricey. Interestingly, Zippo lighter fluid is made of the same chemical and is much less expensive, but a word of caution, before you go dousing your new leather with lighter fluid, ask the manufacturer about any sealant that might have been used. Some of these wear off naturally so by the time you are ready to condition, you will not need to strip the leather first. Leather products can now be found in most stores. In fact, even your grocery store is likely to carry them. Lexol and Leatherique have been around for a while and have great reputations. The makers of these leather products say that they have kept the good effects of raw products traditionally used on leather and used modern chemistry to modify them, as a way of reducing or eliminating some of the not so desirable effects. Magnesium (School Chalk) This substance can be used to clean buckskin. Simply use a soft brush on the rough side and chamois cloth on the soft side. School chalk or corn meal will also absorb grease. If you are working with white buckskin, using magnesium on the stain after brushing lightly is a popular home remedy. *** Hey! Saturday, March 29th, 2008

By Todd Lavergne Looking your best on your wedding day is of utmost importance. Your wedding day is one of the most important and photographed days of your life. On this special day you will let your friends and family share in the love you and your groom have for each other. Even the most attractive woman wants to look her best or maybe even different on her wedding day. You should plan ahead with a professional to try different looks. If you decide to try something new on your special day you may live to regret it. However when planned ahead trying new make up and hairstyles can be beneficial if you find something you like. So when planning your wedding, keep in mind that a professional can be costly so add it to your budget Here are some tips to help choose what look you want to achieve on your wedding day. 1. When deciding on what makeup to wear it is safe to choose a more natural look. You don’t want to look fake or heavily painted in your pictures and when meeting and greeting your guests. Remember natural looking makeup looks great in pictures. 2. You will have additional stress from all of your wedding planning so the best thing for your skin would be to get a facial to help eliminate the stress and to cleanse and hydrate your skin. 3. You should plan enough time to prepare your hair. You may need at least 6 weeks before your wedding day to make changes to your hair. If changing your hair color or hair style you may need up to six months. 4. If you don’t have a hairdresser that you already use be sure to find one that is recommended by your friends and family. For your appointment bring pictures of your wedding dress, headpiece and hairstyles you may want to try. Be sure to share with your hairdresser what you might want to try a new hair color or style. 5. I can not express how important time is when choosing to have your hair permed or relaxed. If there is a chance that your hair can be damaged by what you choose to do be sure to discuss it with your hairdresser. Damaged hair does not look good in pictures and can be difficult to style. Just remember to must have enough time to undo something you don’t like. 6. Before coloring your hair make sure the color will compliment your skin tone and your eye color. You might choose to your a temporary color before going with a permanent color. Your hairdresser can give you the best guidance. 7.When deciding on a new hairstyle take the cut of your gown into consideration. If your gown tends to be more casual be sure to choose a hair style that is simple and not to busy. You should think about being comfortable .Having to fuss over your hair is the last thing you need to worry about on your special day. 8. Adding highlights to short hair will give you a more enhanced look. Deep conditioning your hair can help add shine. There are also many products that can help add shine. For that special touch you may choose to add a flower to your hair. 9. If the length of your hair is longer you may want to wear an updo for a more elegant look. You will have many things to think about and having your hair up is easier to maintain. I hope this information will help you make your final decision when visiting with your hairdresser. Is It Really Possible To Control Oily Hair?

Friday, March 28th, 2008

By Louise Forrest Oily hair, otherwise known as greasy hair, can be an absolute nightmare! You wash your hair, it looks really nice and clean, and then a couple of hours later it is oily and dull looking. How can that possibly happen? The Causes of Oily Hair Often, oily hair is a common complaint amongst people who have acne. This is due to the amount of excessive sebum. The problem is not actually with the hair itself, but with the scalp. The hair simply takes the oil away from the scalp. It is more common for people with straight hair to have oily hair, than for people who have curly hair to have it. This is because it takes curly hair longer time to get the oil away from the scalp, than it does with straight hair. The main cause of oily hair is down to the androgen, or male hormones within the body. They are responsible for the production of oil and the higher the androgen levels, the more oil they produce. Often we have more androgen levels during puberty, or males who are taking steroid enhancing drugs will also have higher levels of the hormone. Other causes may include the time of year, and the overall temperature. If it is hot and sticky outside, then we are more likely to sweat and therefore our hair can get really oily. Over washing can also be a big problem for people who suffer from oily hair. This is because our scalps naturally produce moisture to protect the scalp, but when we over wash our hair, it can wash away the natural moisture and the scalp will think that it needs more, hence you will end up with too much moisture in the hair, leaving it oily and dull. Treatment Available The treatment which you use for oily hair will vary depending upon the severity of it. There are hair products especially designed for oily hair which are not as moisturized as some other products. You should also avoid over brushing your hair, and cleaning your hair brush every now and again is a great idea. Although over washing your hair can often cause it to become more oily, it is said that the hair should be washed more frequently than if it were dry. This is to make sure that the scalp is cleansed. If you do decide to wash your hair daily, make sure you are using a mild shampoo. Also, oil can build up on your pillow case so always make sure that you wash your bedding frequently otherwise the oil will easily transfer to your hair and make it oily. Some women also find that the contraceptive pill can help with oily hair. Strangely enough if you do not treat your oily hair, you could end up with acne on your chest, face and back as if you touch your hair, you will be touching the oil, which you will then spread onto other parts of your body, causing the skin to become oily too. Also, leaving the hair oily often causes more damage to the hair and it can lead to potential problems such as dandruff. It is thought that the best shampoo available to treat oily hair contains lemon. There are various recipes you can find online which show you how to make your own hair care products. These are often better at treating any hair condition as you know exactly what is going into them, and they are completely natural so they are less likely to damage the hair. Overall, oily hair can be a pain and it can be hard to get rid of but there are shampoos out there to help you. You could also speak to your doctor about other alternatives such as the contraceptive pill if you are a woman. Why Does the Cost of LASIK Eye Surgery Vary?

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

By Nicola Kennedy As far as the cost of LASIK eye surgery is concerned, the only worldwide standard is that prices are quoted per eye. However, the cost depends on several factors and varies from one provider to another. A strong reason behind such a variation is that different providers perform different levels of pre-operative testing. A thorough pre-operative examination can avoid LASIK complications, and hence its imperative to determine if appropriate pre-operative testing is included in the quoted price. The cost of equipment used for pre-operative testing and surgery also varies, and this reflects in the overall procedure fee. Computer-controlled scanners to determine the exact shape of the cornea, eye tracking device, tear film analysis, the laser used to make incisions, and all other pertinent equipment vary in cost from one medical center to another. A few unscrupulous practitioners may advertise their services at a discounted price. Dont be fooled if an ad says, LASIK for $500 per eye. The truth is that not all patients are eligible for a discounted price. A particular patient may require an extensive refractive surgery in the first place, or frequent follow ups after the surgery. Furthermore, it is typically the case that a discounted price does not include the essential pre-operative testing. Hence, make sure what features are being offered for the quoted price. Cases have been reported where medical institutes have been found guilty of misrepresenting the actual cost of LASIK eye surgery. As the popularity for LASIK eye surgery rises, so does the incurred cost. A leading refractive industry newsletter reported that the average cost for LASIK eye surgery in the second quarter of 2005 was 1,965 USD. The study was based on a comprehensive research of various medical facilities, ranging from regional practitioners to nationwide networks. Most insurance companies do not cover LASIK eye surgery, since they consider it as a cosmetic procedure. People are tempted to choose a surgeon that offers a discounted price. But that may be an act of foolishness. The smarter thing is to choose the best surgeon available who has experience of this procedure. There is no point risking your vision for the sake of a petty few dollars. If in doubt you should seek further information. Childhood Obesity - Parents - It’s Your Fault Your Kids Are Fat

Monday, March 24th, 2008

By Marie Lenay Rogus How often do you look at your overweight children and tell them they are too heavy? Do you tell them they have to stop eating so much? Do they feel guilty, embarrassed and not good enough because of it? Do you feel embarrassed for your child? Obesity in our children is rampant. Children are developing high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes. And guess what? It isnt their fault. Its your fault. Who buys the food and prepares the meals. Do you make a lunch for your child, or just give them money to buy whatever they want. And if you are buying the food and preparing the meals, and they are overweight and overeating, then they dont know how to eat correctly. So how can they make the good food choices if they dont know how? Here are some questions to ask yourself? Do you give your child cereal and juice for breakfast? What about Pop Tarts or breakfast bars? If so, you are taking their body out of balance and they are starting to develop insulin resistance, which is the bodys inability to properly process sugar. Cereal and fruit juices have such a high glycemic index that the body triggers insulin to bring down the sugar levels. When that happens, they remain hungry and crave foods that are usually high in sugar for the rest of the day. The body cannot properly process the sugar overload. The cells are too full of glucose, so they close down their receptors and send the sugar directly into fat storage. (For more information on this process and how this leads to the formation of cholesterol, see the link below.) You may think that the milk with the cereal will curb the sugar, but if your child is overweight you probably purchase non-fat milk. Its the fat in milk that helps modify the insulin response and curb hunger. Maybe you are fixing your child a peanut butter and jelly on white bread sandwich for lunch. Sometimes you give your child a banana with the sandwich. Nutrition experts on diabetes say that combining peanut butter with white bread increases the sugar level and strongly advise diabetics from having this combination. Peanut butter with celery or an apple is extremely nutritious and high in protein and fiber. A banana is extremely nutritious, but if your child is overweight, give them only a half, or slices of it mixed with other fruit because of the high glycemic value of the banana. An apple or pear or orange is a much better choice. The fiber is high and the glycemic values are low. Am I getting your attention? What about white bread (or wheat bread made with enriched flour)? Many children prefer white bread because thats all they know. Its light and fluffy and turns to sugar very quickly in the bloodstream. Look for stone ground whole wheat on the label to know that the bread nutrients are not tampered with. Food for Life has some wonderful bread made from sprouted grains that are nourishing, are filled with necessary B vitamins, and taste good. Your child probably couldnt even eat a whole sandwich, because bread rich in food value is filling. Speaking of white flour, you wouldnt ever just eat a teaspoon of white flour. Its really dead food. It has no food value. Are you really going to count the so-called enriched flour? This is such a joke on us. Flour manufacturers take out all of the real nutrients from the grain and add in some synthetic vitamins and call it enriched. Anything we make with it is made with shortening, which is a transfat. If we didnt add salt or sugar to it, the taste would be unpalatable. All white flour quickly turns to sugar in your bloodstream which raises the insulin to bring the sugar level down. Often its brought down too low so you get uncontrollably hungry. Is one piece of white bread enough for you? Dont you usually want more? Do you feed your child macaroni and cheese, and other pastas as a food staple because its easy to make and your kid likes it? Perhaps you serve it with a roll or crackers? Maybe you give your child fruit juice with it or a soft drink. Do you give them enough pasta to fill them up and add a small piece of meat and vegetable to the meal and think its balanced? What about potatoes? Kids love French fries and mashed potatoes. Potatoes in moderation are a good vegetable, high in potassium. But we serve potatoes as a staple, and potatoes are a high glycemic food that quickly turns to sugar in the bloodstream. How many times has your overweight child had white or enriched bread, pasta, crackers or potatoes this week? A child in normal sugar balance does not crave sugar and isnt stimulated by the idea of cookies, cakes, etc., unless its been longer than 3-4 hours since they have eaten. This is the time the sugar level drops naturally to signal hunger. How can you help? What can you do thats different? You can help your child get back into balance by following some of these weight loss tips: The most important thing to do is get rid of all snack foods and cereals high in carbohydrates and sugar. Get them out of the house! Then give your children 3 moderate meals and 2 planned protein-type snacks per day. Think protein for breakfast. Give them a hard-boiled egg, or any type of egg. Buy good, stone-ground or multi-grain bread. It has around 4 grams of protein. Put one fried egg on the bread. Use Smart Balance or a good new margarine without transfat with high omega 3 in it to cook the egg and put on the bread. Regular butter is also good for you. You can make French toast. Use low-sugar syrup. Give them a piece of bread with cottage cheese on it and a dollop of low-sugar jam. SmuckersTM has some excellent ones. Add a few walnut pieces. Melt some cheese on bread. Add low-fat milk and some fresh berries or apple or orange slices and you have a wonderful, nourishing breakfast that will give your child energy and help them concentrate. For lunch you can make a sandwich with one slice of whole grain bread, lunch meat and cheese and put mustard or butter on it. Add a piece of fruit and a handful of nuts. Have them buy milk at school. The 100 calories in milk is much better than a diet coke. Calcium has been proven to increase weight loss, and the protein will prevent the sugar drop. Ideally, your child should have protein as a snack 3 hours after each meal. Preferably the protein should have a little carb with it such as apple and cheese or peanut butter and apple or celery, cottage cheese and fruit, nuts, or plain milk or yogurt, or ham slices rolled up with cheese or a pickle. Yogurt sweetened with artificial sugars may stimulate the appetite. You will have to experiment. When your child comes home from school, or before dinner, have a vegetable platter ready with sliced zucchini, red bell pepper, olives, cherry tomatoes, asparagus, celery, carrots, turnips or fresh shelled peas and whatever else you want to put with it. Serve it with salsa, bean dip or ranch dressing. This is a great way for your child to learn to love vegetables. They like the crunch, and the dips add flavor. For dinner, think protein. Have any meat with vegetables and a little salad with dressing or fresh cut up fruit. If you make the vegetables fun to eat, children enjoy it. Slice zucchini lengthwise, wrap it in a paper towel and microwave it for 2 minutes. Then spray on Smart Balance or another butter substitute. Add some salt, pepper and herbs. Its delicious and easy to eat. Give them cut up fruit whenever they are hungry between meals. It takes longer to eat fruit that is cut up, like an apple or orange or pear. A good snack for after dinner is milk with fresh or frozen berries whipped up in a blender. Use one or two teaspoons of sugar. It only has 17 calories per teaspoon. Or use low-sugar syrup with it. For fat to burn efficiently during sleep, it is important not to eat for 11 hours between dinner and breakfast. Sleep is very important for proper weight loss. It may take up to five days to get the cravings for carbohydrates out of the system. Move toward it gradually to make it easier for your children to stop overeating. Once you start following these suggestions, you should notice not only weight loss, but less hyperactivity and irritability in your childs manner. They also should have more energy. Above all, remove the words fat, diet and overweight from your vocabulary when you speak to your children. What we focus on is what we become. Our self-talk becomes self-fulfilling prophecy. Children, especially those under eight years of age, take everything they hear as a programmed suggestion. What they hear becomes their belief system, especially if they feel emotionally hurt in any way. (C) 2006 - Marie Lenay Rogus Lenay Rogus has been a hypnotherapist since 1995. Bridal Showers Invitations

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

By Trish Burrell The bridal shower invitations are your initial contact with guests. Spend some time choosing the appropriate one. This will add to the overall unity of your party. Where do I start? If you’re having a theme, use a picture that suggests the type. Flip-flops for a beach theme, a lace hanky and tea cup for a tea party, or a deck of cards for a casino theme, are just some of many ideas. Use your color scheme. Colors often denote the type of party you’re planning. Pastels suggest a quiet, feminine atmosphere, while bold and bright would be a more lively time. What should the bridal shower invitations say? Name of the bride to be, or couple Date: if formal, write out the month, ex.: September Time: if formal, write out the time, ex.: one o’clock. Location : written directions to the place, or a map, if necessary. Name of hostess: If more than one, list each name. Hostess’ phone number RSVP: Have guests reply two weeks before the party, this will help with your planning. It is better to have guests reply, whether they are coming or not. If someone besides the hostess is tracking the RSVP, make sure to state that in your wedding shower invitations, along with this persons phone number. Theme: If there is a definite theme, describe it. Type of gift: If you would like guests to bring a gift related to the theme or type of bridal shower, make a polite request. Couples registry: Many times couples have registered their gift wishes at one or more stores. Bridal shower invitations including this information are a big help to your guests. When should bridal shower invitations be sent? Four weeks in advance of the party is good. This gives your guests plenty of time to respond. Coordinating your invitations, is all part of the fun of planning your event. Copyright Trish Burrell, All Rights Reserved . How Too Help Your Teen Overcome Depression

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

By Mark Gardner Depression is not an illness that is the sole reserve of the mature adult. These days, there are many potential pressures on young teenagers as they strive to come to terms with life and peoples expectations. Many adolescents will struggle to cope with the various challenges life throws at them and will get depressed at times. Perhaps you have first hand experience of this. Maybe youre a parent of a young adolescent who is struggling with depression at this time. There can be many possible causes for this depression. The fact that they are growing up and battling raging hormones can be difficult enough for any adolescent and leave them feeling confused and facing possible mood swings. Other possible causes for your teenagers depression are bullying, poor school or college grades, being rejected by a girl or boy they like. This kind of depression is known as being situational. Whilst it is unpleasant and an unhappy time for your son or daughter, it will normally pass as soon as the unpleasant situation passes from their lives. Of course, there can be more serious reasons for your teenagers depression. It could be that your child as been experimenting with drugs or alcohol or perhaps even underage sex. Whatever the reason, its important that you find out exactly what the problem is. If your teenager has been acting depressed and youre concerned about them, then its time to take them aside and talk to them. Its not always easy to get teenagers to open up, but you know your son and daughter better than anyone and its up to you to find a way to break the ice with them. But talk with them and offer a friendly and understanding ear to them. If they have done something wrong, dont get angry, it will only make things worse. But find out what is causing their depression and find out whether it is situational or a more serious problem. If your teenager wont talk to you about their problems and their depression is getting worse, then its time to get some help without delay. Sacred Love - Eat to Love - Not Love to Eat

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

By Christopher Walker I have consciousness of you, I see you. I love you. It is love, true love, and in this, there is a truth, eternal. May this truth bind us, may this truth be friendship, may there be an integrity that reveals that I am, as a child of the universe your soul partner, walk with me, I love you. Eating a heavy meal at night is a romance killer. With a full belly, and all available spare blood down there trying to deal with it, how could one expect to be the model of passion with all that going on. What is left is TV and sleep. So romantic! Then there is the quality of food. Good food is not necessarily organic food. One of the most toxic things about food is the thought of the person eating it. Organic food can be as poisonous as any other if it is eaten by a person in a bad mood. Negative and ungrateful thoughts while eating become the quality of the food. A negative, paranoid individual, eating the most organic mungbean, healthy diet will become toxic if they are in a situation where they cannot control their thoughts. Even in the worst situation, with the worst food, people can be thankful and then that food turns to nutrition. Someone sitting in New York, eating hand fed Japanese beef that was massaged every day by a bulimic pigmy, while thinking negative thoughts, may as well be eating cardboard. You can see a man pull up to the gas station in his beautiful car, he fills it with the finest of fuel, has it meticulously serviced, checks the tires are perfectly inflated, then waddles over to the junk food, pre packaged, dispenser and fills his personal tank with junk. What message is he passing to himself. Car cost me money, I didnt? Intestinal poisoning as a result of bad diet is one of the most unromantic influences around. Ninety nine percent of people suffer from bad digestion. Foods that poison or aggravate the intestine, also poison the body and mind. On the one hand, that individual is saying, I want a loving and romantic relationship, yet, priorities observed, they cant control their eating habits. Eat for love of self and other, and your love life will be assured. THE INTEREST WITHOUT THE CAPITAL The lover’s food is the love of the bread;no bread need be at hand:no one who is sincere in his love is a slave to existence.Lovers have nothing to do with existence;lovers have the interest without the capital.Without wings they fly around the world;without hands they carry the polo ball off the field. That dervish who caught the scent of Realityused to weave basket even though his hand had been cut off.Lovers have pitched their tents in nonexistence:they are of one quality and one essence, as nonexistence is. Mathnawi III, 3020-3024 Much processed food is fat, therefore, it will be stored as fat and overload the system, taking vitality away from the other functions of the body. In other words, if you eat garbage, your blood will become toxic and you will become vulnerable to disease, suffering, irritability and a loss of vitality. Youll be old before your time and then start worrying that your beautiful partner is going to run off with some one twice your age, but with half your problems. If you can respect your body, you can respect your relationship. How can we imagine that we can act one way toward the most precious asset we have, without which we cannot exist, and act in a completely loving way toward another human. Surely, it is obvious that if we cant respect our body, respecting someone elses body is a far cry from truth. Now I am not suggesting that we need to all turn into health nuts, and please dont read into this that weight is any measure of health. But what goes in, certainly doesnt come out, it gets stuck in fat and bone and joints. Fat goes in, and doesnt come out. So, rather than measure how we look or compare our body and get the ego involved, we need to put quality in. That means we have mindfulness over the quality of intent of our diet Dont overeat at any time.Beware of nightshades, high acid (eggplant, raw onion, mushroom, potato, garlic)Beware of excess sugar and sweets (excess sugar rusts and ages the body)Beware of excess coffee, tea, alcohol, tobacco and in the other stimulants (messes up the mind and nerves)Beware of processed food (all the sunlight, love, is cooked out)Dont eat animal organs (filters toxin, so filled with toxin)Avoid excessively hot or cold food or drink (cold kills digestive fire)Minimise dressings such as spicy sauces, spices, additives (makes you too sexy)Avoid overcooked and reheated food (dead, you may as well eat cardboard)Try to eat your main meal at midday, and eat lightly at night.
